Rabbi Zevi Katzenelbogen, a 46-year-old father of 8 who lives in the Old City of Yerushalayim, was lightly wounded in today’s terror attack in the Old City. He was returning from davening Shacharis at the Kosel, still wearing his tallis and tefillin.

As he was walking down the street to his home, he heard gunshots.

“I realized that there was an attack. Right away, I felt a shooting pain in my arm, right in the spot of my tefillin.”

He remarked he had “received life as a gift,” adding that “it’s written that the tefillin are connected to the heart.”

“I understand that I merited a tremendous miracle,” he said. “I could have been killed in a moment.”

All are asked to daven for his full recovery: Dovid Zev ben Yehudis Perel.
