The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now says the coronavirus “does not spread easily” through touching surfaces or objects, the NY Post reports.

In early March, the federal health agency was warning that it “may be possible” to pass on the virus from contaminated surfaces, according to Fox News. Its guidelines now include a section on ways the virus doesn’t easily spread — including from touching surfaces or objects.

“It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes,” the CDC webpage states. “This is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads, but we are still learning more about this virus.”

Other ways the virus doesn’t easily spread is from animals to people or people to animals, the CDC’s updated webpage states. Read more at the NY Post.

  1. They changed the wording from “It may be possible” to “This is not thought to be the main way” but basically no testing data, just guesses from these people?

    • I hate to say, but if surfaces are not the main vector of transmission, that means air is. Are you prepared to go out like a scuba diver and communicate with paper? I’d rather stay home.

      • It means the “main” way is when touching other people (handshakes), and possibly spraying in their face when talking or eating in front of them (the reason for the 2 meter distancing).

  2. Experts = educated guesses. There is an issue, there is a pandemic, there are deaths and suffering. There are no experts though, just educated guesses. This rips the wind from Moster’s sails, a secular education is no panacea in a pandemic or any other time. Truly, only the Eybishter knows.
