A man approximately 70 years old was found deceased in an apartment on Jabotinsky Street in Bnei Brak on Monday afternoon after neighbors noticed a strong odor coming from the residence and summoned emergency personnel.
ZAKA volunteers were dispatched to the apartment, where they discovered the man’s body in an advanced state of decomposition.
Avraham Stigel, a ZAKA team leader, and ZAKA volunteer Moti Deri, who worked at the difficult scene, described how the discovery was made.
“This was a man about 70 years old who was found in a state of decomposition by neighbors who smelled a strong odor and called emergency services,” they said.
“With the assistance of additional volunteers, we worked to preserve the dignity of the deceased and collect the findings, and we assisted the forensic investigators who were operating at the scene,” they added.
The body was subsequently transferred to the National Center of Forensic Medicine for further examination and handling.
