Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday chided President Obama for visiting a mosque, a move the president made in part as a counter to Trump’s controversial comments on Muslims.

“I don’t have much thought, I think he can go to lots of places. I don’t know, maybe he feels comfortable there,” Trump said Wednesday on Fox News’ “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”

“There are a lot of places he can go, and he chose a mosque.”

Obama’s visit to a Baltimore mosque Wednesday was his first visit to a mosque during his presidency, and he took the time to chide the “inexcusable” anti-Islamic rhetoric that’s boiled up recently.

Trump has received flak from many on both sides of the aisle for calling for an immediate halt to Muslim immigration in light of terror threats.

The GOP presidential hopeful has previously questioned both Obama’s birthplace and religion.

“He doesn’t have a birth certificate. He may have one but there’s something on that, maybe religion, maybe it says he is a Muslim. I don’t know,” Trump said in 2011 on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor.”

Back then, he was one of the most aggressive critics questioning Obama’s birthplace. Now on the trail, he’s shifted that animosity towards Ted Cruz by arguing he’s not eligible to run for president because he was born in Canada.
