President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he believes Mojtaba Khamenei remains alive despite suffering severe injuries, as he touted the success of ongoing American military operations against Iran and predicted that the United States is approaching a “very big victory.”
Speaking during an interview on The Glenn Beck Program, Trump said the Iranian leader had sustained extensive wounds along the left side of his body but disputed reports suggesting he had died.
“I don’t think he’s dead. He was very seriously wounded,” Trump said. “The left side of his body, the arm, the leg, the whole thing, he was very seriously wounded. But I don’t think he’s dead.”
Trump pointed to the behavior of Iranian officials as another indication that Khamenei may still be alive, saying regime figures continue to publicly suggest that they consult with him and seek his authorization before making major decisions.
“And if he is, they’re putting on a pretty good show because they talk about, you know, going back to talk to him all the time, you know, to get a final blessing on things,” the President said.
The president also expressed deep skepticism about the reliability of Iran’s leadership when discussing the possibility of negotiating agreements with Tehran.
“You make a deal with them. It’s like not the most honorable group. I will tell you that,” he said.
Trump then turned to the ongoing American military campaign, announcing that US forces had destroyed 22 boats overnight and praising the Navy and other branches of the military for their performance in maintaining the blockade.
“We took out 22 boats last night. We have people coming in the blockade. Our Navy has been unbelievable. Our military has been unbelievable, the combination,” Trump said.
The president also credited the United States’ growing economic and financial power with helping sustain its military strength, arguing that the country’s position has improved dramatically during the past year and a half.
“Our financial strength, we built it up so much like you wouldn’t believe in a year and a half. Our financial strength is unbelievable,” he said. “And those things are going toward a very big victory.”
Trump concluded by drawing a comparison between the current confrontation with Iran and the successful US campaign in Venezuela, predicting that another significant American triumph is imminent.
“We had the victory in Venezuela, and we’re going to have a big victory here very soon,” Trump declared.
