Rav Yitzchok Zilberstein, rov of the Ramat Elchanan neighborhood in Bnei Brak and member of the Moetzes Gedolei Hatorah of Degel HaTorah and brother-in-law of Maran Rav Chaim Kanievsky zt”l, was menachem avel Rav Chaim’s daughters.
During his words of encouragement, Rav Zilberstein referred to the tribute that was made in memory of Rav Chaim by the Maccabi Tel Aviv basketball team and the Betar Yerushalayim soccer team during a game that took place on Sunday.
“I heard there was a huge soccer competition, and it was written on the sign: ‘We all mourn the Sar HaTorah – in the middle of a soccer game! Oy, oy, during a soccer game.”
He went on to say: “I give you today, it is your job to spread Torah, to spread middos tovos, to spread Torah. Everything is up to you.”
Rebbetzin Leah Koledetzky, Rav Chaim’s daughter, asked Rav Zilberstein, “But we want a brocha so that no mishap will come out of our hands.”
Rav Zilberstein replied to her: “I have already told you several times that I need a brocha from you! You are zocheh… Hashem will help that the Torah will grow and flourish from here. The whole world is now looking at this wonderful family.”
