Israel spent over $1 billion on its defense to intercept Iran’s flurry of drone and missile strikes late on Motzoei Shabbos, a former Israel economic adviser to the army revealed.

Former General Reem Adminaoch disclosed, “The cost of defense was estimated at between 4-5 billion shekels ($1.08-1.35 billion),” Yediot Achronot reports.

Highlighting the financial toll, Adminaoch remarked, “One Arrow missile used to intercept an Iranian ballistic missile costs $3.5 million, while the cost of one David Sling missile is $1 million, in addition to the sorties of aircraft that participated in intercepting the Iranian drones.”

Yehoshua Kalisky, a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies in Tel Aviv, emphasized to The Wall Street Journal that the expenses incurred were substantial, likening them to Israel’s expenditures during the 1973 Arab-Israeli conflict.

The exact expenditure by Iran on its attacks remains undisclosed, though The Guardian reported that ballistic missiles in Iran could amount to $99,937 (£80,000).

Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the Israeli army, asserted that Tel Aviv intercepted 99 percent of Iran’s missiles and drones, while some ballistic missiles breached Israeli defenses, striking the Nevatim Airbase in the southern region of the country.

Hagari emphasized, “Iran’s attempt to destroy the capabilities of the Israeli Air Force has failed, and that the Nevatim base continues to operate.”

However, Tehran countered, asserting that half of the missiles had struck Israeli targets “successfully.”

    • Excellent observation! In other words, maybe Hashem punished them that the money they did not want to give for Torah, they were now forced to spend to protect from the Iranian rocket onslaught.

  1. That would amount to about 10 years of funding to Yeshivas, and they spent in one night.

Every time they start with the Yahdus, they get clobbered by Hashem.

  2. Yes, this is the extreme difficulty of the situation. Boruch Hashem, most of this massive assault was knocked out, but to do that, we were forced to use huge numbers of our defensive interceptor rockets at a horrendous cost of money. If, Chas V’Shalom, Iran launches another similar assault, we will be forced to do the same thing again and use up that much more of our interceptors & our finances. And, if, Chas V’Shalom, Iran does it a third time, we will be forced to deplete those resources a third time. And, Chas V’Shalom, Iran could keep doing it many, many more times, with each time depleting us that much more, until, Chas V’Shalom — we have nothing left!!!!!!!!!

For Iran, especially with Russia backing & supplying it to the hilt, has many, many, many more drones and rockets than we have interceptors. They also have much, much more $$$$$$$$ than we do. Furthermore, those drones are, relatively, fairly cheap to make: around $10,000 – $20,000, while each extremely high-tech interceptor is over a million $$’s Yet a million dollar interceptor is needed to knock out a ten thousand dollar drone!

This is the exceedingly grave Sakana that we are in that we must beg Hashem to save us from.
