Mrs. Elka Rothman a”h of Botei Broide in Yerushalayim passed away yesterday, leaving behind some 2,000 descendants. She was 97.

Mrs. Rothman was born in Yerushalayim, a daughter of the famed Rav Amram Blau, who fought for kevod Shomayim and shemiras hamitzvos throughout his life.

A pious and special woman, she was married to Rav Yisroel Asher Rothman, a longtime rebbi at Talmud Torah Etz Chaim in Yerushalayim.

As mentioned, it is estimated that she left behind about 2000 descendants.

In Yerushalayim, it was always said that she is “the grandmother of half of the city,” and her name appeared every week on invitations to many simchos in Yerushalayim, Beit Shemesh and beyond. The owners of the printing stores would joke to baalei simcha, “With Elka or without Elka?”

The levayah was held last night at the Shamgar funeral home in Yerushalayim, followed by kevurah on Har Hazeisim.

Yehi zichrah boruch.
