Jimmy Carter: Fox Commentators Have ‘Deliberately Distorted’ News

jimmy-carter1Jimmy Carter said Sunday that Fox News commentators including Glenn Beck have “deliberately distorted” the news. Speaking on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” Sunday, the former Democratic president took¬†aim at the cable news channel climate, often a target for President Obama as well who says he tries to avoid the cable chatter.”The talk shows with Glenn Beck and others on Fox News, I think, have deliberately distorted the news. And it’s become highly competitive,” Carter said. “And my Republican friends say that MSNBC might be just as biased on the other side in supporting the Democratic Party, the liberal element.”

The ex-president said opinions about the two channels was “part of give and take” in politics in the United States. Carter also believes CNN has suffered from trying to remain nonpartisan in comparison to Fox and MSNBC.

“And I think CNN, more than others, has kind of tried to play the middle to their detriment as far as viewership is concerned and profits are concerned,” Carter said.

Carter spoke about his relationship with the press during his one term in the White House. He said he was treated unfairly by reporters while president but Carter also blamed himself, saying he could have reached out more to the press.

“Yes, I think I should have had a much more assiduous desire when I got into the White House to court the friendly relationship and a compatible and mutually trustworthy relationship with the key members of the press corps,” Carter said. “There’s no doubt about that.”

  1. Jimmy Carter himself distorts the facts when it comes to the Arab-Israeli conflict. He is exposed by Alan Dershowitz and others as having a pro-arab bias.

  2. I am no fan of Mr. Carter – I voted against him in 1980 – but we should all remember that Fox is owned by Rupert Murdoch, an Australian billionaire. Murdoch also has extensive holdings in British media, and they are concerned about him there.

Make no mistake – Murdoch is not a patriotic American. He is a foreigner whose interest in the United States is purely in how much money he can take home to Australia. The welfare of the US is not his top priority. He couldn’t care less if his news is accurate, as long as it gets audience share and $$$ for his already humongous bank account. On the other hand, at least he isn’t Saudi. But then if a foreigner of any stripe can own so much of the American media, what’s to prevent some other foreigner like a Saudi from buying us up?

  3. To #3. You’re comment is off I totally disagree with you, what you are saying is totally baseless. Just take a look at his speeches he’s love this county, further more look at the personalities he has on the air at fox (which is really Roger Alies job) are all good patriotic american, both the conservatives and liberals. And with regard to Carter he’s just a cry baby, he was a total failure as president, horrible no clue what he was a disaster just like Obama. Both radical leftist liberal who’s agenda ruin this country.

  4. This is all part of a ploy to revive CNN and the others. They will sacrifice msnbc by saying that it is the liberal fox to convince everyone that the others are legit. Rockefeller said the same thing. When dems start spouting the same opinions then that is telling us something.
