Thousands of bochurim are soon to leave the yeshiva ketanos of 14 to 17 year olds and begin learning in yeshiva gedolah. This transfer entails a grueling registration process where not only the future of the bochurim is decided but also the fates of the yeshivos.
Among the dozens of yeshivos involved, most accept from 25 to 50 newcomers; only a few are large enough to accept over a hundred bochurim for the first year. These include Chevron-Givat Mordechai which is renovating some buildings to be able to accept 250 new bochurim. Ponevezh in Bnei Brak will be accepting 200 new bochurim while Yeshivas Knesset Yitzchok in Modi’in Illit and Yeshivas Torah Besif’arta in Elad will accept 180 apiece.
Yeshivas Toshiya of Tifrach led by Rav Aviezer Piltz will accept 170 and Yeshivas Ateres Shlomo of Rav Shalom Ber Sorotzkin will be welcoming 150 new bochurim to its first shiur.
