About an hour and a half before Shabbos this past Friday, the sound of gunfire pierced the air in the Ramat Vizhnitz neighborhood in Haifa. A bullet penetrated the window of a home of one of the members of the Seret Vizhnitz community. Miraculously, no one was hurt.

The shooting took place at 5:30 p.m. The direction of the shooting seems to indicate that the bullet originated in the nearby Arab neighborhood of Chalisa. One of the neighbors of the house that was hit on Rechov Makor Baruch said, “I was sitting on the balcony, looking towards the mountain between Chalisa and the Neve Sha’anan neighborhood. I saw an Arab walking around among the bushes and suddenly I heard three shots.”

The resident of the home that was hit said that it was an open neis, as his little daughter was only 10 cm away from where the bullet hit.

“It is clear that someone pointed a gun and fired,” said the local residents. “What is unclear is the motive. It is also clear that it was a miracle here that there were no casualties.”

Police are investigating.
