Al Jazeera has announced that a Qatari delegation has departed for Cairo to engage in indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas. This development follows reports suggesting progress in discussions for a ceasefire and a potential exchange of prisoners.

According to Asharq Al-Awsat, Hamas has signaled its acceptance of the deal subsequent to Israel’s withdrawal of objections to releasing several high-profile terrorists from incarceration. Additionally, the United States has reportedly pledged to ensure Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza by the conclusion of the agreement’s second and final phase, along with a cessation of hostilities.

Asharq Al-Awsat further disclosed that Hamas is poised to declare its acceptance of the Egyptian-mediated ceasefire proposal in the forthcoming hours. This decision follows extensive dialogue between Egypt and Qatar, as well as between Israel and Hamas.

Citing Arab sources, Al Quds estimates the likelihood of a ceasefire agreement by the end of the upcoming week.

Earlier on Shabbos, an Egyptian media outlet revealed that Hamas has abandoned its demand for mediator guarantees regarding a permanent ceasefire during the initial phase of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.
