Fox News contributor Judith Miller said Sunday on “Fox News Live” that Republicans must stop being “the party of egregious mass shooting and uncontrolled guns.”
Miller said, “There is always the prospect of Charlie Brown and the football being whisked out from under him by Lucy. Look, we have been over this ground so far, so often, and nothing has changed. The Senate goes into recess next week. That means that the furor and the anger that people feel over this latest slaughter is likely to diminish. I think that’s what the NRA and the other people standing there promoting guns are hoping for. But I think this time may be different.”
Miller said, “We lose 15,000 people a year through gun deaths, 1500 are killed, but many more deaths could be prevented with sensible gun legislation. If New Zealand and Australia can do it after their mass shooting, why can’t we? I think it really depends on the Republicans now. They must stop being the party of egregious mass shootings and uncontrolled guns. That has to stop. It’s up to them. I think Mitch McConnell’s instructions to his fellow Republicans to negotiate with the Democrats suggests that he understands something’s changing. The question is, how long will the furor over this kind of mass shooting last? Will it be enough to finally, finally push the country, the Senate, the House into some sensible gun control? We don’t know yet.”

Miller is engaging in dangerous rhetoric. She’s trying to rile up her liberal base and hoping that some nutcase does physical harm to an innocent Republican male.
Look at the statistics. Areas with no restrictions on owning and carrying guns have the lowest number of gun deaths whereas areas that have tighter gun controls only allow the “bad guys” to have and use guns while the poor restricted schnooks have no way to protect themselves.
I was once at a shiur where Rav Wachsman repeated the word “Guns! Guns!” in shock as he was informed that many Yidden on the West Coast carry guns. Unbeknownst to Rav Wachsman, all the Rabbeim at this shiur carried guns! with or without permits! Everyone was snickering, quietly. Rav Wachsman meant well but his East Coast Liberal mindset didn’t go over as well as he thought it would.
About 25-30 years ago, a local Mechanech, a Rebbi in our neighborhood Yeshiva was taking a walk with his wife as he did every day. Four Mexicans/Hispanics jumped out of a car wielding large knives and started to approach the couple in broad daylight. One of them yelled “Gimme you money”. The Rebbi pulled a 357 Magnum pistol out of his jacket, pointed it at them and said “Get out of my neighborhood!” They jumped back into their car and sped off. At the time that he pointed his gun at the four men, a neighbor across the street saw the Rebbi pointing his weapon at the 4 men and called 911. The police arrived to a report of “A Rabbi is mugging 4 Mexicans”.
I would really like to see what J.D. Vance is going to say about these situations as he is a more keen republican today and seems to have the correct health and interests.
Clearly there is no cross willing solution and there is no mix up of bias that the unlucky times are so bad. We know that Hashem is our God and we know that the Democrats are ultimately destructive to support only labor and eliminate religious happiness.
This is a time to pray and a hope we can fix it. J.D. will be smart.
I’m more incensed at egregious reporting. Did the GOP stop the Uvalde Chief of Police from doing his duty? Or the school from keeping all its doors shut? Or anyone from getting this guy into serious counseling and off the street?
No, because these suggestions don’t fit the narrative.
