Iron Dome Reacts To Gaza Gunfire As Alarms Sound In Israel’s Border Communities

Multiple red alert rocket sirens sounded near Israel’s southern coastal cities of Ashkelon and Sderot in the northern Negev region Sunday night. Israel Defense Forces confirmed unusual machine gunfire towards Israel had triggered the alarm and the Iron Dome defense system response despite no rockets being fired.

Six Israeli citizens were hospitalized from anxiety following the alerts. The incident was under investigation as Hamas internal ministry claimed the gunfire was part of military exercises.
