Tech magnate Elon Musk expressed his support for Israel’s battle against Hamas. Musk, the owner of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), visited Israel and spoke with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu. The focus of their conversation revolved around the challenges posed by propaganda that fueled Hamas’ violent actions, prompting the Israeli offensive in Gaza.

During an X Spaces discussion, Musk voiced his agreement with Netanyahu’s assertion that dismantling Hamas was crucial for any potential peace with the Palestinians. Musk emphasized the necessity of neutralizing those with murderous intent and putting an end to propaganda that trains individuals to become future murderers.

“There’s no choice,” said Musk, who also owns Tesla and SpaceX, adding: “I’d like to help as well.”

“Those that are intent on murder must be neutralized,” Musk said. “The propaganda must stop that is training people to be murderers in the future. And then, making Gaza prosperous. And if that happens, I think it will be a good future.”

Netanyahu replied: “I hope you will be involved. And the fact that you came here, I think, speaks volumes to your commitment to try to secure a better future.”

During their meeting, Netanyahu presented Musk with footage of an October 7 attack, compiled from Hamas bodycams, CCTV, and other sources. In a previous meeting in California on September 18, Netanyahu had urged Musk to find a balance between protecting free expression and combating hate speech, particularly in light of antisemitism controversies on X.

Musk, who owns companies such as Tesla and SpaceX, had previously expressed opposition to content that promotes hate and conflict on X. He underscored this stance on Monday, stating on X, “Actions speak louder than words.” Musk’s visit included meetings with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and families of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, with a focus on addressing the rising antisemitism online.

Amidst the conflict, Musk proposed using Starlink to support communication in Gaza, but this faced initial objections from Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, who expressed concerns about potential terrorist activities. However, a new agreement in principle was reached, allowing Starlink satellite units to operate in Israel, including the Gaza Strip, only with approval from the Israeli Ministry of Communications.
