The situation with COVID-19 coronavirus in Israel is “under control,” and, furthermore, it is “one of the best in the world — if not one of the best in the West,” Israel’s caretaker Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday.
Speaking at the opening of the weekly security cabinet meeting, Netanyahu praised the actions of the Israeli authorities as “calm and responsible,” taken with all possible cooperation among everyone involved.
The caretaker PM also warned, however, that the COVID-19 crisis has escalated to the point of a “global epidemic”, even though there has been little appetite among officials to say this explicitly.
