Former US envoy to the United Nations Nikki Haley ripped into the US President Joe Biden’s administration over its UN record in a recent opinion piece.
Writing for Algemeiner, Haley lambasted the Biden team over its decision to rejoin the UN Human Rights Council (UHRC), which Washington pulled out of under former President Donald Trump in 2018.
The Trump administration cited the body’s bias against Israel as the key reason for pulling out.
“If China, Russia, and Cuba started an organization that celebrated their tyranny in the name of human rights, would the United States want to join?” Haley asked, listing some of the UNHRC members.
She also criticized Bide over plans to restore US funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which deals with Palestinian refugees.
“If an organization that claimed to help refugees actually hurt them, while spreading antisemitism, would the United States want to fund it?” she mulled.
