US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expected to visit Israel next week, also possibly visiting other states in the region, Axios reported on Sunday.
The top US diplomat is set to visit the Jewish state on November 18, the report specified, adding that the administration of US President Donald Trump is planning to unleash a flurry of sanctions targeting Iran.
The news outlet cited two Israeli officials as saying that the plan is being coordinated with Jerusalem and the Gulf states.
According to the report, the White House developed, with the help of the Israeli security establishment, a long list of Iranian targets for new restrictions.
The plan is to slap new restrictions every week before the inauguration of the next US president in January 20, when president-elect Joe Biden could take over the White House.
