U.S. and local Guatemalan police raided the compound of the radical Lev Tahur cult and arrested at least two.
According to reports, Yoel and Shmuel Weingarten of the Lev Tahor cult in Guatemala have been arrested by local police. The rest of the cult leaders who abducted and abused children are serving long prison sentences in a U.S. prison.
For a long time, Guatemala police and FBI agents tried to track down these two cult members, but they managed to escape, in part because they dressed like the locals to evade arrest, making it difficult for them to be apprehended.
In March, indictments were filed in the United States against five of the leaders of the Lev Tahor sect, and details of their horrific acts were revealed. After two of the sect’s children fled to New York, they were abducted by cult leaders and flown to Mexico.
A 14-year-old girl was allegedly given a jar of honey as a gift, along with coffee and a cell phone to communicate with. In the middle of the night, leader Nachman Helbranz snatched the girl and her brother from their home and disguised them as gentile children, dressed in Superman and Spiderman clothing, and they were flown to Mexico.
According to the indictment, the victims’ next flight may have been to Tehran, the capital of Iran, if they had not been caught. At the time of the abduction, the Lev Tahor members sought asylum in the Islamic Republic of Iran. After an international manhunt that lasted three weeks, the sister and brother were located at a hotel in Mexico and returned to their mother in New York. The three members were flown to New York by the FBI, handcuffed. There they joined two other followers who were also disguised as gentiles at the time of the abduction and they were detained.
Despite the arrests, other members of the Lev Tahor gang did not shy away, and three months later, several cult members allegedly tried to abduct a child from his New York-based mother.

Before you vent your anger at religious Chassidic groups why don’t you express your anger against Reform and conservative heretical sects destroying the future of millions of Jewish youth. Many are children of mixed marriages where mother is not Jewish and children are classified wrongly as Jews. They are also giving a bad image of Judaism by supporting gay marriage and the murder of babies through abortion on demand. The open orthodox gang is also a danger to Jewish values as they pose as Orthodox Jews with anti Torah agendas. Lev Tahor at least educates it’s kids to be frum and be knowledgeable of Torah. Wake up and smell the coffee.

As a flatbush Jew I look up to very frum Jews who learn and daven with passion. I have seen videos of the Lev Tahor group and there is no talking during davening like in some heimisha shuls.
