Former President Donald Trump vowed not to start a rival political party to oppose the GOP during his highly-anticipated Sunday address to the Conservative Political Action Conference, calling reports to the contrary “fake news.”

“We’re not starting new parties. You know, they kept saying, ‘He’s gonna start a brand new party.’ We have the Republican Party,” he said. “It’s going to unite and be stronger than ever before. I am not starting a new party.”

Previous reports have indicated that nearly two-thirds of Republican voters would defect to Trump’s competing “MAGA Party” or “Patriot Party.” The former president’s announcement that he will not create an alternative reaffirms the message coming out of GOP leadership that the Republican Party will unite in an effort to reclaim a chamber of Congress during the 2022 midterm elections.

  1. End of the day Republicans are stick with Trump and he is stick with them.

Being that the anti-Trump Republicans are offering no alternative vison to Trump (other than never-Trump) with what can they sustain the party on their own?

And how can Trump start a new party and risk the anti-Trump Republicans joining the Democrats in the perennial calls for his impeachment/investigation/censure etc.?
