A blaze broke out today at Yeshiva of Spring Valley Girls School on Grandview Avenue on Monsey, NY.

The students were immediately evacuated safely, class by class, accompanied by their teachers. The girls were then escorted onto buses, with the assistance of Rockland County Chaverim, to keep them warm in the interim. Boruch Hashem, no one was injured.

The conflagration broke out in a portion of the school structure that is currently under construction, adjacent to the current school building.

Firefighters valiantly battled the flames in the cold temperatures and put out the fire. The extent of the damage has yet to be determined.

  1. It’s been reported elsewhere that Ramapo School refused to allow the girls entry into their building because they didn’t have masks. They also didn’t have coats and the temperature is in the 20s. Curious! If they had masks but their clothing was burned and thus….. would they have been allowed in to stay warm and safe?

  2. Wong Chu-That is incorrect. The girls were allowed into the public school gym. Some girls went to the gym and others went to a shul a few doors down. The girls left the school gym to join the rest of them in the shul so they were in 1 location as opposed to many.
