According to the Israel Democracy Institute’s annual survey, which it presented to Israeli President Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday, the majority of Israelis believe their leadership is corrupt.
The survey was conducted in May, before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu failed to put together a working coalition following the April 9 election, and before the attorney general recommended indicting him.
The IDI surveyed 1,014 people, 852 Jews and others, and 162 Arabs, 58 percent of whom said they see the leadership as corrupt or very corrupt. Another 24 percent said they believe the government is somewhat corrupt, whereas 16 percent said it is not corrupt at all.
There was a strong correlation between belief in government corruption and belief that Israel’s democracy is in rough shape—46.5 percent of those who said Israel’s leadership is corrupt also said the quality of Israel’s democracy is poor, whereas only 18 percent of those who thought Israel’s leadership was not corrupt felt the same.
The vast majority of Jewish Israelis polled (90 percent) said they trusted the Israel Defense Forces, while 77 percent felt the same way about the office of the president and 55 percent trusted the Supreme Court.
By contrast, less than half of Jewish Israelis said they trusted the police (44 percent), the media (36 percent), the government (30 percent) or the Knesset (30 percent).
Arabs expressed a low level of trust across the board, with less than 50 percent of those polled expressing trust in any Israeli body or institution, with the exception of the Supreme Court at 56 percent.
Between the two groups, 59 percent said the legal rulings of Supreme Court justices are influenced by their political views.
Jews and Arabs were in agreement regarding Israel’s provision of security for its citizens — 63.5 percent of Jews and 64 percent of Arabs said they thought Israel had achieved this goal. However, a whopping 61.5 percent of Arabs said they believed Israel ensures the welfare of its citizens, compared to just 30 percent of Jews.
Of Jews polled, 60 percent said they did not think the Israeli government should take the views of Diaspora Jews into consideration when making important decisions.

Not even a question that the govt in Israel, as well as the judges, esp in the high court of injustice, are corrupt. But the only one being indicted is PM Netanyahu for bribes while many ministers and judges take bribe begadol! See how corrupt they are?
