Law enforcement apprehended more than 20 people, including a local news photographer, during a pro-Palestinian Arab demonstration at the University of Texas at Austin.

The scene involved hundreds of officers, some mounted on horses and wielding batons, forcefully dispersing protesters from the main campus lawn, causing some to fall onto the street. Police officers, equipped with zip ties, moved through the crowd to effect arrests.

A photographer from Fox 7 Austin, covering the event, found himself caught in the chaos as an officer pulled him to the ground, as captured in video footage. The station confirmed the photographer’s arrest. Additionally, a veteran Texas journalist was knocked over amidst the commotion and was seen bleeding before receiving assistance from police.

The Texas Department of Public Safety disclosed that at least 20 demonstrators were detained at the behest of university authorities and Governor Greg Abbott.

Following hours of police intervention, the crowd dispersed, and approximately 300 protesters reconvened to sit on the grass and vocalize their grievances beneath the university’s iconic clock tower, as reported by The Associated Press.

These demonstrations at the University of Texas mark the latest instances of intense anti-Israel protests occurring on college campuses across the United States.

Earlier in the week, at Yale University, law enforcement clad in riot gear intervened during a protest, resulting in the arrest of around 45 pro-Palestinian Arab demonstrators.
